KSS 2010 LUND/MERC DRAW ~ We have Winners!

CONGRATULATIONS to Kirk Gemmil of Winnipeg and Bill Kennedy of Kenora who went in on a ticket together and came out winners!  Thanks to everyone who came out to see the big moment!  We have a message from our Acting Fundraising Coordinator Colleen Jones:

I would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket.  The monies earned from this effort allow swimmers age 17 and younger to train and compete.  Many of our team have worked their way onto the National stage and could not have done so without this support.  I would also like to thank the businesses and events who allowed us to set up tables to sell tickets or helped us in some meaningful way. These include Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Safeway, The Blue Heron, Kenora Shoppers Mall, Shaw Kenora Bass International, the Farmer’s Market, Harbourfest, Keewatin Day Parade adn Senoritas Mexican Restaurant.  Thank you also to the many businesses that put tickets on their counters to help support individual swimmers.

The draw was once again a sell out. As our official outlet, Sunset Husky sells the majority of our tickets. I would like to thank Gina and all of her staff for putting up with my many interruptions and supporting the Club in this way. Plase return the support by making Sunset Husky your first choice for one stop shopping.

KSS Swim-a-thon 2010

Swim-a-thon 2010 was a huge success in the pool ~ most swimmers swam just beautifully and for many more lengths than even their coaches and/or parents thought possible.  Case in point ~ 5 year old Emilia Mastromatteo swam 1050 meters or 42 pool lengths in one hour.  Now, all swimmers are urged to work on collecting all $’s pledged and to turn this in by  Saturday April 3, 2010.  Make sure to sign and submit your Family Affidavit along with your pledges.

  • All KSS swimmers should have received their 2010 Swim-a-thon T-shirt. If not, please see Bruce Fisher for your shirt.
  • We will have a few extra Swim-a-thon T-shirts remaining, mainly in adult small, medium, large and XL sizes.  We will sell the shirts for $18 after April 3.

*C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S Ian Filips of Kenora!

Ian Filips of Kenora was declared the winner of the Kenora Swimming Sharks $20,000 Cash and Coin draw held January 27 at 5:00pm at the Kenora Recreation Centre.  Congratulations Ian!

The Kenora Swimming Sharks would like to send out a BIG thank you to Sunset Husky and Blue Heron for being our official ticket selling establishments. Without these two businesses, our draw would not be possible. The two raffles the Kenora Swimming Sharks hold each year are critical to the financial stability of the club and the support of the community is very much appreciated.

Thanks also need to go to:

  • Canadian Tire, Home Hardware and the Kenora Shoppers Mall for allowing the club to set up tables to help families sell their tickets.
  • Any business in the city who allowed families to leave tickets behind to sell to their customers
  • All the Members of the Kenora Swimming Sharks who sold their ticket commitment and beyond
  • Anyone who bought a ticket!  Every ticket helps!

And last but certainly not least, Colleen Jones and family who not only keep the draw running smoothly and take on a lot of responsibility every draw but who also are some of our biggest ticket sellers.  And, thanks to Mr. Jones, the Swimming Sharks now have their very own ticket drum for this and future draws.  Way to go Norm!

We would also like to thank Senoritas Restaurant, Blue Heron, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, the Kenora Shopper’s Mall and any other business in Kenora that kept a book or two of tickets on the counter to help us out. It takes a strong membership to build and maintain a strong club and the Kenora Swimming Sharks is very fortunate to have some very dedicated families!

Special thanks to Colleen Jones and Jodi Jenner for doing all the hard work behind the scenes to make sure we have places to sell, distributing tickets, collecting funds, rolling tickets, etc. etc. etc.  The list is endless and the hours are long!

Husky Community Rebate Program

Sunset Husky in Kenora has been a strong supporter of the Kenora Swimming Sharks for several
seasons. Their assistance with our draws, especially our Boat Draw has been phenomenal ~ 35% of the tickets sold for our last draw were sold at Sunset Husky!

Kenora Swimming Sharks families and friends can give a little something back in appreciation AND support the club. Each time someone presents a Husky Community Rebate Card issued by the Kenora Swimming Sharks when they make a purchase at any Husky, Mohawk or Husky House Restaurant in Canada, Husky gets our business and the Kenora Swimming Sharks get a rebate of 2% to help run the club.  All purchases are eligible except lottery tickets, cigarettes and gas certificates.

Husky Community Rebate Cards are available at the Sharks office and we will be making them
available to all our families at our upcoming Annual General Meeting on September 28, 2008.

For more information about the Husky Community Rebate Program, download their Rebate Plan Brochure.
