Joining our Club

If you or your child is new to competitive swimming and would like to join the Kenora Swimming Sharks, you’ll find almost all the information you need to know about our club on this website. Any child joining a competitive swim club for the first time will need to be evaluated in order to be placed in the group best suited to his/her capabilities and skill level. Our coaches are available to discuss this with you by contacting the Sharks office at 468-4221. Or you can send an email to Head Coach Bruce Fisher.

Registration

Each swimming year runs from September to August. The Kenora Swimming Sharks registers swimmers three times a year for our Fall Session, Winter Session and Spring Session. Some Competitive and Masters Swimmers may also register for a summer session.

2010-2011 Season

All current swimmers will be notified in advance of upcoming registrations via the Weekly Newsletter and by email.

Fee Structure

All swimmers must pay an annual Swim Ontario registration fee which covers Swim Canada’s mandatory insurance for each of our swimmers for the swim year. Each swimmer must also pay a mandatory KSS annual membership fee which helps cover some of the administrative / office costs for the club that cannot be covered through fundraising. Swim Ontario and KSS membership fees must be paid in full at the time of the swimmer’s initial registration. These fees will not be prorated for swimmers who join part way through the year.

Session fees (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) are due prior to the beginning of the swim session. Session swim fees may be paid in full or in installments (for Competitive and Masters swimmers) or arrangements must be made, in advance of the start of the session with the club executive to defer fees for a certain period of time. Session fees include Mandatory Fundraising for Competitive and Junior swimmers.  There are no fundraising requirements for Masters swimmers. For all Junior Sharks and Competitive swimmers, fundraising is mandatory. Fundraising credits earned by fundraising over and above your fundraising commitment may be used for up to 25% of the session fee for swimmers under the age of 18.  All members must also meet volunteer commitments as outlined in our Volunteer Policy on this website.
