The Soggy Log ~ March 1 -13, 2010

We have one more week scheduled for our Winter Session (March 8 – 13/10), with all swimming ending on Saturday March 13/10. March 8 – 13/10 is KSS Swim-a-thon Week. Please refer to the Swim-a-thon 2010 information on the reverse side of this Soggy Log. During the week of March 15 – 20/10 (School Spring Break) the only swimming will be for swimmers in CG1 and CG1A on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons between 4:00 – 5:00 PM as these swimmers enter final preparation for their participation in the 2010 short course Manitoba-Saskatchewan Swimming Championships, March 18 – 21, 2010 at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg.

The KSS Spring Session is scheduled to begin on Monday March 22, 2010 and will run 13 weeks until Saturday June 19/10. The one exception to this will be for our Junior Sharks ½ hour groups; the Spring Session for these swimmers will be just 10 weeks long, ending on Friday May 28/10. The number of swimmers who register in the ½ hour program will also determine the groups schedule: we will either maintain our schedule as it currently exists, with two groups, one from 5:00 – 5:30 PM and the second from 6:00 – 6:30 PM on both Mondays and Wednesdays and then a combined session from 5:45 – 6:30 PM on Fridays, or if our registration is very low, we will combine all ½ hour Junior Sharks into just one group. Session times would be Mondays from 5:00 – 5:30 PM, Wednesdays from 6:00 – 6:30 PM and Fridays from 5:45 – 6:30 PM. All swimmers in the Junior Sharks ½ hour Program will be contacted regarding scheduling as soon as we know our registration numbers.

KSS at the NWO Regional Swimming Championships in Thunder Bay ~ What a fantastic weekend for the KSS. The bus ride was fun (if uneventful), and the swim meet sessions were fairly short and very well run. Our KSS swimmers can be very proud of how they swam. We placed second in the meet behind Thunder Bay, but I believe we swam very strongly and the score was really due to a “numbers game”, as the Thunderbolts outnumbered our Sharks swimmers by quite a few bodies. The following Sharks Swimmers won their respective Age Groups High Point Awards: Girls 10 & Under ~ Winnie Boucha; Girls 11 + 12 ~ Keely Mash; Girls 13 + 14 ~ Paige Murphy; Boys 12 + 13 ~ Bryce Jones and Boys 16 & Over ~ Ronan Cameron. In addition we had a whole bunch of swimmers who won medals during the weekend. In fact each of our 26 swimmers scored in the swim meet which is an indication of our swimmers ability and how well they swam. Well done swimmers. You can all be very proud of your efforts!!!!!!!!!

NWO Open Swim Meet ~ April 9, 10, 11, 2010 ~ Right here in beautiful sunny Kenora. This is our annual spring swim meet; in fact this will be our 4^th Annual NWO Open Swim Meet. All KSS competitive swimmers and many KSS Junior Sharks swimmers are invited to compete in this swim meet. I will have the actual NWO Open Swim Meet entry sheet ready for our swimmers at their Swim-a-thon swims next week. Please fill these in and return right away.

Have a fantastic Spring Break, and I sincerely hope that all our swimmers will return ready to train hard and to compete during the KSS Spring and Summer Sessions.
