Swimmer’s Ten Commandments

Or, How To Get The Most Out Of Your Swimming

  1. Take responsibility for your swimming.
  2. Continually strive to improve your practice times.
  3. Measure the measurable  ~  keep a log book. Record your distances and average times on sets, etc.
  4. Value kicking ~ a minimum of 20% of the daily volume with intensity indicators.
  5. “Encourage your teammates”  ~  Be a positive leader for your program / lane.
  6. Improve your pushoffs  ~  Continue to develop your dolphin (body kicking).
  7. Develop your physical strength (core) with one correct movement at a time
  8. Develop good habits  ~  count your strokes, know your splits, take your Heart Rate.
  9. Always PRACTICE the way you want to race.
  10. Have FUN but never at the expense of your swimming excellence and that of your team mates.
