Over the years Bruce has coached many Senior National Qualifiers and Canadian National Team members, starting with Shirley Roulston, Brenda Bourke, Janice, Patti and Jim Stenhouse in the mid 1970’s, Cam Reid and Tyler Cant in the early 1980’s, Hilary Seagrave, Megan Seagrave, Michael Hawkes and Olympic Silver Medalist Marianne Limpert in the 1990’s while with the University of New Brunswick, and University of Manitoba Bison swimmers Brandee Alexander, Rodney Thomas and Eric Edie.

Bruce is an NCCP Level 3 certified coach, and holds Bachelor of Recreation Administration and Bachelor of Education Degrees from the University of British Columbia. He has taught at the elementary, secondary and post secondary levels at both the University of New Brunswick and the University of Manitoba. He currently teaches courses in Health Education at the Kenora Campus of Confederation College.
