Kenora Swimming Sharks

NWO Open Swim Meet ~ April 3, 4 & 5

The KSS hosted the 4th Annual NWO Open Swim Meet April 3, 4, 5/09.  Ten teams in total participated with some great results.  Congratulations to the Kenora Swimming Sharks for coming in first place in the team rankings!  Some notable accomplishments for our swimmers:

• Achieving Personal Best times in all their individual events:  Angele McDonald, McKenna Bye, Kyle Tella and Kyle Moreau
• Achieving all First Place finishes in all their individual events:  Angele McDonald, Paige Murphy and Michelle Balcaen
• Finishing in first or second place in all their individuals events:  Jamieson Fregeau, Bryce Jones, Cheyenne Cameron, Bryn Jones, Ronan Cameron, Tahsha Schabler and Laura Stasiuk
• Finishing in first, second or third place in all their individual events:  Breeze Boucha, Katie Marcine, Winnie Boucha, Lisle Compton, Orion Demisse and Conor O’Flaherty.

After four rounds of the 50 free shootout, the winner on the Women’s side was Michelle Balcaen (KSS) and on the Men’s side:  Justin Krueger (Thunder Bay Thunderbolts).

The Kenora Swimming Sharks would like to give a huge round of applause and a very big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who spent their weekend at the pool to help make this meet a success.  Special thanks to Jim Brow, Jim Cumming, Darryle Martin, Crystal Martin and all the parents and other volunteers, too numerous to mention, who were there from the beginning to the end of every session.

We would also like to thank the following businesses for their contributions:  our sponsor ~ the Super 8 Motel, Alpine Printing, Boston Pizza, M&M Meat Shop and the Kenora Ski Club for hosting an excellent awards banquet on Saturday.  Only athletes would think it’s fun to run UP the ski hill after dinner!
