This is Fall Session Week #9. Halloween Week. Lots of scary stuff coming up on the weekend!!!!
During Week #9 we have NO AM swimming for CG1 and/or Masters. However, don’t get too comfortable sleeping in, as we have scheduled a large block of AM training sessions and intensified work during Fall Session Weeks #10, 11, 12 and 13. We will then have a recovery period (Weeks 14 and 15), as we enter the final preparation phase prior to the annual Prairie Winter International Swim Meet in December.
Halloween Tricks and/or Treats – On Friday October 31 we will change our regular training schedule as follows:
• CG1 and CG2 – Swim 4:00 – 5:30 PM. NO DRYLAND (5:30 – 6:30 PM) so that our younger group members (each group member will have to decide where they fit into this equation) can go out for Halloween. Do expect some special “Halloween Sets” in the pool (either a “Trick” or a “Treat” ????).
• CG3/4 – Swim 4:00 – 5:00 PM (instead of their regular 5:15 – 6:30 PM). This will let these younger swimmers have a short swim prior to the evening fun.
• Masters and 1 Hour Junior Sharks – CANCELLED - 5:30 – 6:30 PM.
• All Programs will run as normal on Saturday November 1/14, and we do expect to see everyone in the pool on Saturday AM.
KSS Fall Invitational Swim Meet - November 15 + 16, 2014. Our annual KSS sponsored and run Fall Swim Meet. This is the perfect swim meet for our younger swimmers to earn meet Qualifying Times for Prairie Winter International (PWI) and Man-Sask Championships, and for our newer, younger swimmers to participate in their very first or second swim meet!!!! Our KSS Fall Invitational is also a perfect swim meet for all our more experienced swimmers to experiment with various race plans and tactics which will be used at PWI.
We are expecting a fairly LARGE entry from all NWO Regional Teams as well as quite a few swimmers from Manta Swim Club from Winnipeg. As always we will NEED LOTS OF HELP from ALL KSS MEMBERS in order to ensure the success of this swim meet. Please volunteer to help when you are contacted.
REMINDER - The Entry Deadline for our Fall Invitational Swim Meet is Saturday November 1/14.
NWO Regional Weekend Training Camp – October 25 + 26/14. Thirteen KSS “Junior” aged swimmers participated in this training and educational camp last weekend in Thunder Bay. As with any “Camp” weekend many new ideas were presented, which forced our swimmers to try new ways of doing things. I felt that the weekend was a very valuable experience for all our swimmers. There are countless ways to get to any desired destination. However in swimming it still comes down to #1 doing things correctly, and #2 hard work in the pool and during Dryland Training. I am looking forward to our ”Junior” aged swimmers “displaying” a new awareness of the variety of new or maybe better ways of approaching each training and/or competitive opportunity during the next few weeks.
One NEW / OLD item that was brought up repeatedly during the weekend was the absolute NEED for all swimmers to #1 have a water bottle full of water on deck with them during each swim session, and #2 to actually drink the water during the training session. This is especially important for ALL swimmers in CG1 and CG2 as we intensify our daily training routines over the next four weeks. Please look at the recipe for “Home Made” sports Drinks that I have attached to this document. These just may be the ticket to SUPER performances as the season progresses.
